Menocchio – Film

Project Info

Project Description

Menocchio is a 2018 film directed by Alberto Fasulo, inspired by the story of the Friulian miller Domenico Scandella, known as Menocchio, who was tried for heresy in the sixteenth century. The film reconstructs a stark, tangible world in which powerful imagery supports the conflict between freedom of thought and authority.

Valerio Oss worked as visual effects supervisor for Pixel Cartoon, coordinating compositing and digital integration. The effects were designed to respect the cinematography and physical character of the settings, enhancing shots while preserving their realism.

Corrections, reconstructions and integrations were created with particular attention to light, texture and visual continuity. The accompanying video shows stages of the compositing process and compares the original elements with the final shots used in the film.
