Project Description
BACKUP – Neuromorphic Photonics and the Brain is a scientific animation project presenting interdisciplinary research at the University of Trento. Its central theme is the relationship between connectivity and brain function, explored through integrated photonics, neuromorphic circuits and interaction with neuronal networks.
The challenge was to turn complex scientific concepts into clear, accessible and engaging imagery. Three-dimensional models, motion graphics and visualisations guide viewers through biological structures and technological systems, balancing accuracy with effective communication.
Pixel Cartoon developed the visual language and animation, coordinating graphics, movement and editing. The video introduces and explains research at the intersection of neuroscience, photonics and new computing architectures.
