MILA: production finally complete

After a long international production journey, in 2021 MILA finally reaches audiences. Written and directed by Cinzia Angelini, the animated short tells the story of war through a little girl’s eyes, inspired by the director’s mother’s memories of the Second World War.

Pixel Cartoon was among the first companies to believe in the project and supported its development as a co-producer, contributing visual effects and animation. Valerio Oss worked as visual effects supervisor. The production involved hundreds of artists across many countries, turning remote collaboration into a truly international virtual studio.

MILA demonstrates that animation can address complex subjects with sensitivity while retaining the power of visual language. For Pixel Cartoon, completing production marks the culmination of a creative, technical and human challenge spanning many years.
