Welcome to the "SPACE SHUTTLE MEDS PROJECT"!

MEDS project is a FREEWARE add-on for Orbiter Space Simulator that reproduces all the Multifunction Electronic Display System of the Space Shuttle (almost all...).
MEDS (
Multifunction Electronic Display System) is an update of the original Space Shuttle cockpit that uses  'glass cockpits', consisting of multiple color displays instead of dedicated instrumentation. In origin MEDS utilizes 11 identical color multifunction display units (MDU) in each orbiter.

For this project I started to develop the Ascent/Entry flight instrument, which is fundamental during the reentry and launch time. Other instruments will follow (DSP, subsystems, ascent/reentry graphs etc.) and of course some displays are modified due to lack of data from Orbiter that is an always-in- development program. In future releases some instruments will be totally invented to support Orbiter (and not only Space Shuttle) new features.
The main feature of this add-on is that it is an external program (it runs outside Orbiter), and may be used on a network on different machines.
MEDS project is entirely written in Visual Basic and for its use it is necessary to install the vMC (virtual mission control ver.2) software. In the download section you will find all the programs you need.
This version of MEDS project supports a dual use: one is the single MDU (multifunction display unit) useful for assembling real cockpits and/or for slow systems that support only one unit, and the other is the FFP (full front panel) configuration, with all 9 Space Shuttle display units and switches and LCDs, for dual monitors or network systems.

With MEDS project you could have the following possible configuration :

or otherwise you can use it this way:
